FAQ’S ABOUT THE IBEX SERIES

Is it battery powered?

Yes, and the batteries are rechargeable and charging takes up to 4 to 6 hours. They will approximately offer a range of 12 to 24 km (depending on the weight and the terrain).

Why 3 wheels / what is the third wheel for?

  • For undulating terrain; a three wheel design is considered to be the most stable, maintaining the center of gravity, and offering maximum stability.
  • The front driving wheels give Ibex a small turning radius which is ideal for tight places, especially for indoor uses.
  • Driven by a high torque motor, the 20-inch front wheels ensure that Ibex can conquer rough terrain with ease.

Are their seat belts?

Ibex comes with 2 standard seat belts in the box, which can be attached to any of the 5 tethering points. We strongly recommend consulting an experienced physiotherapist for ideal fastening settings on the wheelchair.

Do the tyres need to be filled?

Yes, Ibex comes with pneumatic tyres. Regular check-ups would be needed.

Are hard tyres available?

Currently no, because we use pneumatic tyres for their ride quality and ease of service, maintenance and durability.

How do we operate it?

Ibex is operated through a joystick which has 4 basic directions: Front, back, left and right. There are 5 speed levels and we recommend practicing at lower speeds before taking it on high speeds.

Does the wheelchair fit in a lift?

Yes, it will fit in most modern lifts. For smaller lifts, we advise you to go in reverse.

Is the wheelchair foldable?

Quick release wheels (an optional-extra accessory) will help Ibex fit into any small sedan’s boot.

Can Ibex go up the slopes?

Yes, with ease.

Can we customise Ibex?

Yes, but only after consulting a physiotherapist and Indent Designs. Any customisation done post-purchase will void the warranty.

Does Ibex work in the rain?

We recommend not to use it in the rain.

Does Ibex fit through doorways?

Yes, the wheel to wheel width (track-width) is 26 inches. So it fits through most common doorways easily.

Are there any other battery options available?

Can the battery be swapped?

Yes. But, with a permission from IDPL or IDPL-authorised dealers.

Can the battery be charged individually?

Yes. But that will void the warranty.

Can I carry luggage on the wheelchair?

No.

Does it have suspension?

Yes. Monoshock suspension.

Does Ibex have lights and indicators?

No.

Does Ibex have a horn?

Yes.

Can the wheelchair be used on public roads?

Yes. But in dedicated lanes only. Please check with your local authorities for more information.

Do you need a license to use the wheelchair?

No, as the speed doesn’t go beyond 25 kmph. Please check with your local authorities for more information.

How to clean the wheelchair?

You can clean Ibex with a dry cloth. If there are any tough stains, a damp cloth can be used there.

Can I take Ibex on a flight?

Please check with the respective authorities.

Can I use Ibex in manual mode?

Yes. It can be pushed by an assistant, if the battery goes down.

What is covered under warranty?

Refer to the user manual for a detailed description.

What is the warranty period?

1 year for the wheelchair and 6 months for the battery (Lead Acid) from the date of invoice.

Does it need maintenance?

We recommend periodic maintenance. Please refer to the user manual for more details.

Can the tyres get punctured and how to fix it?

Yes. The normal cycle repair shop can fix it.

Does it need maintenance?

Why is the wheelchair so long?

Ibex has a slightly longer wheelbase compared to the average wheelchair, which makes it stable in most situations. Due to Ibex’s unique (tadpole) design, it has a tight turning radius and easy maneuverability for indoor use. We will be launching a compact version soon.
